Its that time of year again – the holidays bring out the best in parents, don’t you think? Even if you’re not big on photos and videos and traditions, its seems that the holidays really make us a try a little harder to get those special moments recorded for future appreciation. I’m big on the pictures – I try to get a picture of anything and everything that may or may not be something to remember. I will admit that I’m not as good with the videos. We have a larger camera (by today’s standards anyway), and its jut not convenient to carry it around to capture those everyday moments that I may get with my kids.
Thankfully, this is no longer a problem. I was lucky enough to receive a FLIP Ultra HD Video Camcorder to review for a giveaway from Mom Central Canada, and I cannot tell you enough, how much I LOVE this camera. Its small and fits in the palm of your hand, but has a nice, solid weight to it; this is not some flimsy mini camera. Its beyond fabulous, and features include a 2″ LCD screen, 120 minutes of recording time (8MB) AND it shoots video in High Definition. All of the Flip cameras come equipped with FlipShare, a software that allows you to save, edit and organize your videos easily. You just plug it into your laptop with the attached USB arm, and go from there. Its extremely user friendly and it is easy to upload your videos to YouTube or any other online sharing sites.

It’s simple, my dad. This man makes a huge difference in helping me to manage motherhood. He is the best grandfather and deserves to capture the special memories he has of his grandchildren.

Tough call! My hubby loves to take videos but hates dragging out our clunky camcorder, so I think he’d be my number one pick…
My hubby has one, and he says I can always borrow it, but it just doesn’t feel the same. I wouldn’t mind having one for myself. I could just keep it in my purse, and always be ready for those candid moments.

I’d give a flip to myself. I know that is shallow and self centered, but I’m honest! I want me a flip phone!
It might seem silly, but I would use it to take video of The Niece, which I would then use to capture stills for printing; because she’s such a little mover and shaker that it’s tough to get a good photograph of her with a regular camera.
I’d also take video of her to turn into movies.
And, once our little one comes along, I would use it to take hours and hours of video to share with my parents – who live far far far away from us.

My parents live 1200 miles away, and they have limited chances to get to know her son, their only grandson, who is currently going through the most adorable phase (yet!). I’d keep it in order to film my almost-2-year old son. My grandmother, who turns 90 (!) in January, has learned to use the computer so that she can stay in touch with all of us. Posting video of him would be great for her to watch.

I would be tempted to keep it for me, since my dog ate mine this year (well, he crunched through it’s leather case and broke it…) but I would give it to my friend who has just started a homeless outreach chaplaincy. She wants to record the stories of those who don’t have access to storytelling technology. Isn’t that a cool idea?
I would share it between my sisters and I so we could make short videos of our families (especially our kids) to compile into a DVD to give to our mother. She has no computer and no internet, and refuses to even try, so she misses out on all our Facebooking.
I would love to win this for my oldest daughter who is a video fanatic. Her camera got broken when she was at a Motley Crue concert and somone bumped her and sent it flying. She can’t afford to buy a new one so this would make her day.

I would give this to my hubby. He absolutely loves gadgets like these, which means we’d get lots of great video of our son. In turn, that would be a gift to our families, since we could share the video/images online (we live away from all of our families). They only get to see their grandson a few times a year and this would be a wonderful way to keep them updated.
I would gift the flip to my friend who is expecting her third child. She doesn’t have a proper video camera, but she is the queen of still photos and would have a great time capturing the magic of the three kids with the ease of the flip.
