Let’s give it up for the earth – shall we?
She’s pissed at us right now – have you noticed? All the earthquakes and mudslides and volcano action of late? Eventually, our neglect of poor Mother Earth was bound to come back to haunt us, as it has over and over again. But it’s not too late to make changes, big and small to bring about some worthy results.
Recently, I was asked to become a Majesta Mom, and to try out their environmentally friendly products, and I must say I was really impressed with the product quality, and especially their message. This Canadian company is making major efforts to be responsible to the environment while also creating a worthwhile product that is affordable and reliable to its consumer. Majesta is being “Treesponsible” (as trademarked by Majesta) – what does this mean? Majesta has made a tree planting promise – they will plant 3 trees for every 1 tree they use to produce their products. Their 2010 goal is to have over 1 million trees planted, and they are well on their way with over 200,000 planted to date.
Another thing I can appreciate about the Majesta brand is that they are specially marked with these infomative labels. The labels inform their consumer that the products are Canadian made, biodegradable and plumbing friendly because they are made from natural wood fibers, made without any additional dyes or fragrance, naturally whitened, and created from a SFI (a sustainable forest). Awesome.
Another part of being a Majesta Mom, was that we were asked to perform a little test with some water, two water bottles, and the Majesta toilet paper vs. a competitor’s toilet paper. It was eye-opening to say the least. After adding water to both bottles and a few sheets of each paper in their own bottle, we were asked to shake it vigorously. No matter how hard we tried, the competitor’s paper would not dissolve or break down. Imagine that in your pipes, especially if you have paper-happy children and husbands as I do (Please note: I have ONE husband – this is no Big Love situation over here). On the other hand, the Majesta paper dissolved easily and immediately sold me.
Especially exciting for the kids was the White Spruce Seed Card that we were sent, so that my kids and I could plant it on Earth Day, and we plan to do so right after school. They are very excited about it, and can’t wait to see it sprout. Thanks for that Majesta!

Majesta has a great contest going on right now to win $15,000 towards a green makeover for your home. It ends June 27, 2010 and is open to Canadians. So go enter it today!!
(Please Note: As part of the Majesta Mom program, I received samples of all three of their paper products and a gift card purely due to my awesomeness).
