Craftiness is a State of Mind

by MARIA on June 28, 2010

I blame Megan @undomesticdiva – I was reading her blog, and she just happened to be blogging about making teacher gifts. I thought it was a genius idea, and something I could actually do, despite my personal lack of genius in the craft department. But I liked it enough to try. So I headed out and bought all the supplies and was ready – mind you this was WEEKS ago. Fast forward to today, the day before the end of the school year, and I decided to bite the bullet and actually go ahead with it.

I’m surprised to say that I really enjoyed doing it too – weird for me, but true. I’m kind of proud of myself, and thrilled that my little dude feels the same way, and is excited about sharing it with his teacher. I took some pics of the final product and would love to hear what you think!

Seriously – I’m going to do this every year from now on. Thanks Megan.

It looks fabulous! When I first read Megan’s post about the book Thank You gift, I had tossed the idea around of doing it but never did get there. I applaud you for getting it done!

That is so clever!!! It’s too funny, I haven’t done crafty stuff in a while, but over the weekend I had the urge to… and we crafted yesterday. Just glue and sequins and pom poms, but it can be so fun to do with the kids!

She is totally going to cry. I was preschool and pre-K teacher for a few years – these sorts of things ALWAYS tugged at the heartstrings :)

Nice job Mommy!

That is really fantastic, such a great gift idea. Teachers LOVE this stuff, much better than some of those other hideous gifts we get ;) This is definitely the way to go and a good way to end the misery of teachers unwrapping snow-globes all over the country!

It turned out AMAZING! Seriously! I love the paper and colors use chose… very bright and colorful and cheerful.

Very cool… I’m so excited to see someone else tried it!

I do these mostly for teachers’ gifts but you can also change them up to be grandparents’ gifts too.

That’s awesome, I love it. I’m sooo not a crafty person, but my daughter LOVES crafts. I think I could swing something like that. Very cool.

Good for you! Those are wonderful! And as a former middle school teacher, I can tell you that teachers LOVE getting stuff like this. I still display handmade gifts in my office from years ago.

Holy cow – this is brilliant! You made this with your son? How cool is that? I am so not crafty but this makes me want to give it a shot at least. 4 years for me to practice for now. Yay!

WOW!! I’m so impressed.

And, if I was the teacher, I’d bawl like a baby. Such a neat gift. You must photograph every single one you do like this so that your kids remember!

That is so awesome! As a teacher, that would earn a spot of honor on my desk/bookcase for years to come. What a great way to remind her that she makes a difference. Well done :)

Too cute! I made one of these for my sister when she graduated from high school that was mostly blank, but had some inspirational type things in it. You can see it on my blog if you are feeling like taking a peek!
