I’m not sure who is happier about school being over (me) but thankfully it is (did I say me?).
He started a nervous little five year old and completed the year as a more confident, happier, slightly jaded six year old.
He loves math and computers and is reading at a level 17, and very proud of that actually. He is an AVID reader, going through chapter books faster than I can keep up, which makes me crazy proud of him too.
He loves to draw, but don’t tell him what he can and can’t draw and please don’t tell him to stay in the lines, because he doesn’t play by those rules.
He loved his teacher this year, and made some new friends, and also experienced things that I wish no one would have to experience at school, but I guess that’s unrealistic in this day and age. Sadly.
He’s taller, and ganglier and missing a few teeth, but he’s still my handsome bunny. He’ll always be my bunny.

LAST DAY of GRADE ONE
Please note that he dressed himself in a linen shirt so he could look nice for his teacher on his last day – also the reason why his hair is slicked back. Always the charmer.

I’m so proud of you my little man.
Love you forever, no matter what.

Cute as a BUTTON!! Aaaaw!! So cute he wanted to look good for his teacher. Charmer is right!!
Your son sounds like an awesome kid. I love that he wanted to look nice for his teacher on the last day. I hope his summer (and yours!) is fab.
He is so handsome in his linen shirt – looks like a little man.
I can see that he changed over the year. Losing the chubbiness in his cheeks
Glad he enjoyed school despite the issues! I hope Grade 2 is much better. Mine are off to Grade 3 and Grade 2 in the fall. And the baby is almost 1!! It goes by too fast.
He is so freak’in cute…and handsome
He is so sweet. And so are you for writing these special words. Amazing how much they grow in a year…
My son did the same. He went from what I call ‘little kid’ to just plain kid. IN ONE YEAR!! How do they change so fast!
Sounds like you have a smart little dude on your hands there!
And cute too…
Oh, he’s so handsome! He’s changed so much. It’s just amazing isn’t it?
So sweet! It’s amazing how fast they grow up… what a difference in not even a full year! What a cutie. I hope he has an awesome summer and a better experience in grade 2.
It’s amazing how fast they grow! My oldest “baby” will be starting junior high this fall and I feel the same way I did before he started kindergarden. Don’t tell him but there will be tears.

I moved!
Sniff, sniff. It makes ME weepy. It’s really hard when you can plainly see that THEY ARE GROWING UP. I wished away the baby years and now I want to keep my snuggly little 3 year old just the way he is.
What a cutie! I can’t believe how much older he looks in just one school year. Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute to your little guy, Maria!
He is SO sweet! Bring on summertime!!
He is so stinkin’ handsome. I notice that he’s lost some baby fat from his cheeks in the second picture. How sad!
I can’t believe how fast they grow up.
So cute! He is such a handsome little man!
My youngest used to be so round and is thinning out too soon…I like some chub!
I like some chub on little ones too – I never realized how hard it would be to watch them grow up. Waaahhhh.
Oh My he looks so good! And look how he has matured. Cutie pie!
Wow! Just look at him! You’re right –- he’s a charmer, for sure.
As a reading teacher, I just want you to know that your son is an awesome reader. Level 17 puts him right on schedule for 2nd grade. Kudos to you!
Oh he is beautiful. And I am LOVING the linen shirt!
He sounds like an absolute doll
