Mabel’s Labels Loot Bag Combo – Giveaway – CLOSED

by MARIA on January 19, 2011

I have very strong feelings when it comes to what to put in birthday loot bags.

I am definitely not a fan of loot bags that are basically filled with candy and dollar store crap. Hate them.

My thinking is always less is more – I tend to pick one or two items that the kids will actually be able use and enjoy and go from there.

So I’m loving this new idea from Mabel’s Labels, a fabulous Canadian company.

Mabel’s Labels has just introduced a great product to their line that is perfect for any birthday celebration – the Loot Bag Combo.

This practical yet adorable goody bag item was inspired by celebrities who incorporated Mabel’s Labels Sticky Labels and Bag Tags into their children’s birthdays. In the last year alone, Reese Witherspoon, Tori Spelling, Nancy O’Dell, Jason and Naomi Priestley, Ali Landry and Kristy Swanson made Mabel’s Labels a must-have goody bag addition. This affordable and durable sampler pack includes 5 custom Sticky Labels and one Bag Tag, available in 27 designs at $5 a combo (minimum order of 6 combos required). Order a combo today for your kiddos next birthday party!

I’m giving away one LOOT BAG COMBO (for 6 kids) – (6 x 5 Sticky Labels & 1 Bag Tag) to one lucky winner.

My kids got a full sized Webkin at a birthday party they went too. I would have to say that was the best thing they have ever received!

My 8 month old has only been to one birthday party, and strangely, he got one of those paddles with the bouncy ball attached. That promptly went into that trash.

The funniest thing i’ve seen given at a birthday party was a pair of underwear. The funny part was not the gift, but his reaction and how he wanted no part of it.

Worst thing, permanent markers in a one year old’s bag. Never thought to check and see that they weren’t washable. (sigh)

I haven’t really had a ‘bad’ loot bag item… apart from the crappy dollar store toys, and the crappy dollar store chocolate. They end up in the trash… may as well just give the kids $5. ;) I do love Mabel’s Labels what a great idea for a loot bag!

The worst would have to be gum for my two year old at the time.

Worst is “candy sticks” – also formerly known as candy cigarettes.

Most memorable: fake set of scary teeth
Worst: leftover Halloween candy, I mean the dregs. Yuck.

A birthday party for a 1 yo… all the kids were around the same age, so they all got travel spoons in the loot bag. Great for taking with you and there’s no guilt if it gets accidentally lost!

Best loot bag item my kids received was a $5 gift card for Chapters (it came attached to a very large gingerbread man cookie to make it less boring for the kids)!

The worst would have to be a whistle. Needless to say, it got “lost” when we got home… lol.

My worst goody bag item was in the goody bags I made. Yes, I am admitting to a parenting fail. I hate the cheap stuff too and I was going for an airplane themed birthday party for my son’s 2nd birthday. I got a little nuts on Etsy and bought homemade airplane lollipops (that were mostly broken when they arrived) and handmade soap in the shape of airplanes that smelled awful. If my kid had received that stuff at someone else’s party, I would have put it straight into the garbage!

The best item I had in a loot bag at a party for a 1yr old was a sippy cup for my son (who was also one at the time). Practical. Or anything that makes noise!!

The worst by far was those ‘fireball’ jawbreaker candies for a 3 year old. Really, what was that parent thinking????

my kid got random food out of the pantry-Twinkies,fruit roll up and can of peaches! The party was for 2 year olds!

The best loot bag thing we ever had, was when we found monster hand shaped loot bags that we filled for my oldest’s 5th birthday. All the kids thought they were hilarious.

When your birthday is November 1st, you get a lot of Hallowe’en goodies.

I’d say the best is what we gave for my twins first birthday. Each loot bag contained a different item, specifically picked for the child the bag was going to! This wasnt the cheapest way to go, but no one tossed theirs in the garbage. It also allowed me to put together gift bags for kids ranging from 8 months to 4 years.

Oh, I am so glad you are having this giveaway, because GET THIS. At the birthday party my son went to a couple weeks ago, the mom called all the kids over to get their “party favor,” which turned out to be a DAMN GOLDFISH IN A BAG. We had to go straight to the pet store after the party to buy supplies for the fish (this was on a Sunday evening, mind you) and the thing survived one week before going belly up on us. My son was devastated. Poor kid had to learn a firsthand lesson about death and dying because of a damn party favor.

Sheesh.

My favourite party favours were from my 3 y.o. daughter’s fairy-themed birthday. All the little girls in attendance received a magic wand, wings and a handmade fairy skirt. The girls’ reactions as they flew around the party was priceless.

I put sparky bouncy balls in my daughter’s birthday grab bags. They has eyeballs that floated in them and if you bounced them hard enough, the eyeball lit up.
