Broken Record

by MARIA on January 20, 2011

Ever feel like a broken record.

Good news – it’s not just you.

Motherhood is an exercise in repetition.

Actually, to say it’s repetitious, would be an understatement that any mother can understand.

How many of these will you say in a day?

STOP!

NO!

WHY?

BE NICE

BE POLITE

WHAT DID YOU SAY?

DID YOU SAY PLEASE?

DID YOU SAY THANK YOU?

DID YOU WASH YOUR HANDS?

ARE YOUR HANDS CLEAN?

WHAT’S THAT SMELL?

DON’T PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR MOUTH.

DON’T TOUCH THAT.

DID YOU TOUCH THAT?

IT’S TIME TO CLEAN UP.

CAN YOU PUT THAT AWAY?

WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT?

WHY IS THAT THERE?

DID YOU FLUSH?

WHO DIDN’T FLUSH?

WHERE ARE YOUR SOCKS?

WHERE ARE YOUR PANTS?

WHY AREN’T YOU EATING?

WHAT ARE YOU EATING?

DID YOU EAT THAT OFF THE FLOOR?

STOP FIGHTING!

YOU LOVE EACH OTHER!

STAY WHERE I CAN SEE YOU

WHERE DID YOU GO?

LET’S GO

BATH TIME!

YES YOU NEED A BATH.

ALL SMELLY PEOPLE NEED BATHS.

DID YOU BRUSH YOUR TEETH?

BRUSHING WITH WATER ISN’T ENOUGH!

IT’S BEDTIME

TIME FOR BED

IF YOU LOVE MOMMY, YOU WILL GO TO SLEEP!

*

I could go on for DAYS.

Yes, to all of those. And then some of course.

“Don’t touch your brother.”

“Close the door!”

I just sat here hearing myself say, “WHAT did you just say????” I say that a lot. Oh and “GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR PANTS!!!” I say that like 900 times a day. Three year old boys. Ugh.

I love this!!!

Two of my frequent phrases are, “No, you can’t spend all day in your pajamas” and “Come on…you have to put your pajamas on! It’s bedtime!” One of the things I can always count on in life is a daily pajama battle.

I would add to this list:

Take your finger out of your nose
And
Do you have to go poopy?

Motherhood is glamorous isn’t it?
