The husband was at work when he discovered a stick bug outside of his office. He was so excited about showing the kids, he found a box for it and rushed it home.
I thought the 7 year old would shy away from even getting close.
I was wrong.
He was SO excited, he wanted to keep it. Eventually, the seven year old let us put him in our tree. He stood there watching him for a while.
He’s still talking about “his” stick bug.
Of course, the four year old hid in the house the entire time.
It all evens out in the end.

MY 4 year old has grabbed her magify glass and is now determined to find her own stick bug in our trees! LOL

Ah those things are so cool! my kids and I saw a praying mantis last year and all four of us freaked out! i think they would have been freaked by the stick bug too.
The praying mantis would have freaked me out too. I had no desire to touch the stick bug either – my 4yo leave that to the boys.

While the story is very cute….all my mind is doing is “ew ew ew…look at that HUGE freaking bug!!!!!” DOH!
Those are some weird a** bugs. We saw several when we were camping. My 3 yo was terrified.
My 7yo is usually terrified of everything – I was pretty shocked that he even wanted to touch it.
My kids would have been completely amazed by that too! I think I could deal with that bug…some others..not so much!
That is so cool that daddy brought it home for him – love that!
