POLAR BEARS INSPIRE COCA-COLA TO TURN RED CANS WHITE FOR WWF

by MARIA on October 26, 2011

I adore polar bears – they have always been one of my most favorite animals, even as a young kid. They are so cute and so Canadian, how can I not? I also am a bit of a Coca-Cola fan (Diet Coke addict over here), so I was excited to hear about the new Arctic Home Campaign, and very happy to write about it. Yes, I consider this perfect logic.

As you may or may not know, Coca-Cola has used polar bears in their holiday campaigns for years. This holiday season, white will be the new red. Coca-Cola will change the colour of its iconic red can for a cause, in honour of another icon, the polar bear. The “Arctic Home” campaign will help raise awareness and funds to support World Wildlife Fund (WWF) efforts to protect the polar bear’s Arctic habitat.

With nearly two-thirds of the world’s polar bears living in Canada, this Arctic species is an important part of our ecosystem and culture. Coca-Cola will contribute $2 million to WWF over the next five years, and through the “Arctic Home” campaign, will match consumer donations made by March 15, 2012, up to $1 million USD. Canadians can visit iCoke.ca to make their donation. Funds raised will go toward WWF’s conservation efforts to protect polar bear habitats – for their survival today and into the future.

Look at how cute that can is!!

The WWF’s goal is to protect the polar bear’s home, by working with local residents. “This campaign is about working together to save one of the most important places on Earth,” said Gerald Butts, President and CEO of World Wildlife Fund.

On iCoke.ca, you can explore, experience and learn about the polar bear and its Arctic home. You can watch video chats with WWF scientists, track virtual polar bear sightings, and make donations online too. You can also get more information about the entire campaign at iCoke.ca.

Ever since, I’m a Coca Cola avid fan in products and in advertisements. I love their ads during Holidays. I believe that this advocacy for Polar Bears would make Coca Cola supreme its sales. It’s more environmental and animal awareness which makes it a social responsibility.
