Pottery Barn Kids Halloween Costumes – Review

by MARIA on October 25, 2012

With an undecided six year old who had no idea what she wanted to be for Halloween, I thankfully received a well-timed email offering me a chance to check out one of the many costumes available at Pottery Barn Kids.

I was thrilled because I love their costumes. Although I don’t live near a PBK store location, I did buy my daughter a Pottery Barn Kids witch costume in Toronto two years back. I couldn’t resist – it was beautifully made and gorgeous. She still wears it and dresses up in it all the time, and it has held up perfectly.

I sat down at the computer with my daughter so we could look at all the costume choices available. There were SO many cute options to choose from that it took a while for her to decide on her favorite. It was a three way tie between the peacock, the owl (my favorite) and the flamingo.

And the winner is….

So cute, right? She wants to wear the thing every day, all day, and I kind of want to let her because that is one adorable flamingo.

Besides being super cute to look at, the costume is really well constructed. The sleeveless fleece body, lined in poly cotton, is warm and roomy enough to fit comfortably. It fastens in the back with velcro.

The wings, head and beak are a separate cape and hood that velcro at the neck. The wings and beak are sewn of polyester felt and layered bright pinks felt and sparkly tulle – it’s really a gorgeous costume.

As you can see we added a pink long sleeve top and striped black and white leggings but you can improvise with any color top and bottom. This is especially great if it’s a cold night on the 31st so we can layer with a thicker pink sweater if we need to.

The costume comes in three sizes 12-24 months, 2-3T and 4-6T, and with a nice roomy construction, the costume will easily accomodate a variety of little bodies comfortably.

It retails for $74 but I just noticed that it is on sale on the PBK website, as are many of their costumes. Of course PBK now ships in Canada!!

When Halloween is over, we’ll add our newest costumes to our dress up basket where all our costumes of Halloweens past get tons of play. It’s a great way to extend the fun longer than just one day.

What are you dressing up as for Halloween??

Such a cute little costume! We usually scope the racks the week of Halloween looking for deal. We keep all our costumes in our dress up box too. This year we had to get the costumes early because is school dance. I am bringing Rapunzel and Snow white. .I have no idea what I will be
