Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards #CBias #CypherKidsClub

We’re big Apple fans in our house and the kids love finding new apps to play with and discover, especially on my beloved iPad.

So I jumped at the chance to review the Cypher Kids 3D Interactive Cards – Wild Animals Adventures. They work with a free downloadable app that works for the iPod touch (4th gen.), iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and the iPad 2 and 3. The cards are also available in a Numbers and Letters theme.

We personally decided to purchase and try the Wild Animals card set, because the six year old loves animals, and she’s the boss. I’ll admit that I knew nothing about these cards going in, so I was curious about their appeal and whether the kids would really enjoy them.

The package includes 18 full color cards, each showing a different animal. On the back of each card is a large 3D marker that can be read by the iPad’s camera.

To activate the cards, you open the Cypher Kids app, and you hold the 3D marker up to the camera and the animal on the card comes alive. The way you see the animals will depend on how you hold the card in front of the camera. Closer to camera, the animals will appear larger on the screen. You can also tilt the cards to see the animals at a different angle.

The cards can also be experienced in two different modes: Exploration and Snapshots. In Exploration, you can hear the narrator tell you all about the featured animal while you will also see the animal move and hear its sounds. In Snapshots, you are able to photograph the animal with a real life background.

My daughter loves this app (our bird Cookie – not a fan) and the cards that go with it. She just can’t get over the 3D aspect of them and loves to hear all about each animal. She may have said, “How do they do that Mommy?” many, many times while playing. It’s great to see she’s interested in an app that can also teach her about the animals she loves so much as well.

The #CypherKidsClub 3D Interactive Cards can be purchased at select Walmart stores. You can see photos of our shopping experience on Google+ as well. You can learn more about Cypher Kids Club via Twitter and Facebook.
