Supporting Parker, the IWK Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network

13th June 2012

This is my final post as a #MiracleMoms, in support of the IWK Foundation Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.

During this campaign, I have been supporting Parker, a 10 year old from Halifax who was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is a cutie and a very determined young man, who can write a great speech, as you can see in this excerpt below:

Hi,

My name is Parker and I’m 9 yrs old.  In July of 2010 my life changed…I was diagnosed with Leukemia, a form of blood cancer.  The first 6 months of my treatment were intense, tough and sometimes painful but I needed to do all this stuff to clean up my blood.  I’m now on a maintenance program until Sept 2013.  Until then, I’ll take chemo pills daily and will go to the IWK monthly to get chemo in my port-o-cath.

The good thing about my cancer is that it has a cure.

Although my energy level is a little low, I did not miss too much school last year and I was able to continue playing hockey and lacrosse.  I decided not to play hockey this fall because skiing and curling are my real passions.   Maybe I should take up cycling!

Another good thing about my cancer is that NOW, I only do what I’m passionate about.

He is such an inspiration.

This is why I was so excited to become a part of this campaign and spread the word – it’s such a worthwhile cause.

As it is coming to the end, I am asking you to work with me to support this wonderful hospital. Every dollar donated counts and helps support this hospital. My personal goal is to raise $1000 and I need a lot of help getting there. The great thing is you can now donate via Paypal as well as the other standard forms of payment.

Please consider supporting me, the IWK Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network!!

Support The Children’s Miracle Network and The Newport Family

30th May 2012

I am so honoured to be one of the #MiracleMoms and support The Children’s Miracle Network. I have come to realize what an amazing organization this is, and with my love of children, I can’t help but be touched by every story I’ve heard.

I would like to introduce you to the wonderful Newport family and their beloved Evan. Please take a few moments and watch this very emotional video.

Kleenex is mandatory.

As a #MiracleMom, I am also looking to you for your support of this wonderful initiative. Please consider making a donation today – you can go HERE to make a donation – any donation over $20 will come with a tax receipt. You can also click on the IWK Foundation badge (the specific children’s hospital I’m supporting during this campaign) on the right to donate. My goal is $1000 and I’m a long way from there – any amount will get us closer. How about skipping your Starbucks today and putting that $5 – 10 towards this wonderful cause?

You can also support us by passing on this post and/or by sharing my donation page via Twitter, Facebook and email. You can do this directly from the donation page as well.
