Imagine Fashion Life – A Review #UbiFashionLife

21st November 2012

Ubisoft’s Imagine Fashion Life for the 3DS is a game that is all about fashion and is set in Fashion Town.

There are several characters that are unlocked throughout the game but the player is Emma, who is new to the fashion scene. The game begins with you choosing a career – designer, top model, or manager, and then you complete tasks within in each career to progress. As you progress and complete missions, you become more famous.

Within Fashion Town, there are several buildings that you can access via map. What you choose as your career will determine the buildings you will spend time in and what you will do there.

There is also an online option to this game that will allow you to download additional content for the game, but it isn’t necessary to play the game. This game can also be played in 3D or 2D if you prefer. The game is very similar to Imagine Babyz in that you watch the game on the top screen, and maneuver/play the game on the bottom screen.

The game is rated E for everyone but I think it’s probably geared towards an older child (tweens) – there were too many steps and instructions to keep my six year old interested for long. I would have also liked to see an option to be able to alter the avatar beyond outfit and hair. All the characters in this game look pretty much the same, and I think it would be great to be able to make the main character your own.

For the tweens on your holiday gift list, Imagine Fashion Life can be purchased at Amazon.com

Imagine Babyz 3DS – A Review #ImagineBabyz

21st November 2012

I was recently sent the Ubisoft Imagine Babyz game for the Nintendo 3DS to review and no one was more thrilled than my six year old daughter.

The premise of the game is that the player is a young pediatric nurse recently recruited by a famous international au pair agency. As an au pair, you travel the world taking care of babies until you have enough experience to open your own day care.  You begin the game by personalizing and naming your avatar. You are then asked a series of questions, by the head of agency, Miss Wilhelmina to determine your baby “missions”. You get to choose from three different babies in three different parts of the world. Once you’ve chosen your baby, you are given a series of objectives that you need to complete to successfully take care of the baby, like bathing, changing their diaper and feeding. Once you’ve accomplished your objectives, you move on to the next family. Once you’ve successfully helped three babies, you move to the next chapter of the game.

As you play, the game also “blogs” your experiences in the game – the blog is updated automatically with each mission objective completed and you can choose to take a related “picture ” of each objective.

When playing the game on the 3DS, you can choose to play in 3D or not, it really doesn’t affect your ability to play. My old lady eyeballs preferred to play without the 3D option and it was enjoyable regardless. The game uses both screens – you see what’s happening on the top screen and you use the stylus to play the game on the bottom screen. Learning how to play was very simple for both myself and my daughter because the game walks you through every part of the game very clearly. There is also a message center where your “boss” and fellow au pairs will leave you messages about your progress.

I thought this game was really cute and I predicted my daughter would really enjoy it and she did.  She LOVED this game and taking care of all “her” babies. These are her thoughts:

“This is my favorite game ever. I liked all the babies and taking care of the babies and all the babies are so cute. They sound like babies and I can take their pictures and feed them. I want to play this game all day.”

Yup, she liked the babies!

This would make a great gift this holiday season. The game is rated E for everyone, and you can find it at Amazon.com!
