the-hueys

I remember when I first discovered an Oliver Jeffers book was when I was in the bookstore with my then toddler son looking for something funny for his bedtime story that night. I just happened to find The Incredible Book Eating Boy on the shelf, and immediately adored the illustrations. And then I read it and fell in love with it’s story and just how funny it was. It became one of our absolute favourite family reads and led to our love of all things Oliver Jeffers. If you haven’t yet read anything written and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers, you are missing out. They’re creative, hilarious and will amuse your kids, regardless of their age.

9th December 2015

This might just be the absolute coolest, most ingenious picture book I’ve seen in a very long time.

robo-sacue

I must warn you however, because ROBO-SAUCE by Adam Rubin, is actually two books in one. This awesome picture book turns into a ROBO-BOOK! Seriously. My kids and I were so impressed by how unique this picture book is. The illustrations by Daniel Salmieri are perfectly matched with this delightful story of how a boy who discovers how to turn himself into a robot.

Flash! Bang! Boom! You need to gift this cool book to your favourite little people this holiday season. I promise you they will love the twist at the end!! I shared it with a girlfriend at our local bookstore, and she immediately bought it for her boys.

12 Days of Picture Books – Mitford at the Fashion Zoo

8th December 2015

I crazy love this book so much.

mitford at the fashion zoo

Mitford at the Fashion Zoo is written and illustrated by the incredibly talented and creative artist Donald Robertson. If you’re not following him on Instagram, you are missing out. I refer to him as the Canadian Warhol – the man has talent!

This lovely picture book is the story of Mitford the Giraffe who desperately wants to work for the fashion magazine Cover. If you know anything about fashion or fashion designers, you will delight in how creative this book is. You’ll encounter the talented Zap Possum, Shark Jacobs, and Mikael Boars just to name a few. The real star of this picture book is the illustrations – they are as Rachel Zoe would say, “Bananas.” Truly incredible.

Mitford at the Fashion Zoo

Mitford at the Fashion Zoo is a fun story that kids will love as much as any adult. This is a winner under the tree this year for sure!

LostMy.Name Personalized Books #Books #Review

9th July 2015

lostmyname-logo

Personalized books have come a LONG way, baby. Most of the ones I’ve seen haven’t been very impressive, looking both cheesy and of poor quality. But then I discovered LostMy.Name personalized books.

lostmyname-books

LostMy.Name books are special. They’re a softcover book, made with a lovely, heavy quality paper that gives them a substantial feel. The illustrations are absolutely glorious and really work with the story to make this book unique.

lostmyname-book

The story is about a little girl or boy who loses their name and goes on an adventure to find it, letter by letter.

lostmyname-book

I adore this book – it’s a great story, and any little person would love it too. I think a personalized gift makes a perfect gift, and one this special will be a winner. The site says these are ideal for two – six year olds, but my eight year old loves hers too.

The ordering process is one of the best things about these books – it is just SO easy. Just enter the child’s name on the site, choose boy or girl and click the CREATE YOUR BOOK button and it’s done. You can click to preview your book in several languages including English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. The book is $34.99 with free worldwide shipping, and you can choose to have it gift wrapped for an additional $4.50. Make it even more special by including your very own dedication and they’ll print it on the first page for you.

Want to order your own copy? Head over to the site and check them out. You can also find LostMy.Name on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.

*I was sent a personalized copy to review, but my opinions are always my own.*

Curious George Goes To A Costume Party – Book Giveaway

10th October 2012

Curious George is a beloved character in my home. My youngest was absolutely obsessed with this adorable little monkey at one point and I happily obliged her. Everywhere you looked in our home, you would see George!!

With Halloween coming up, Curious George Goes to a Costume Party is a perfect read to share with your little people.

George and the man with the yellow hat arrive at a Halloween party—but they aren’t wearing costumes. No matter—there are plenty in an old trunk upstairs, and soon George is trying on all kinds of outfits. But when he wants to look in the mirror, George finds he has to jump on the bed. Downstairs, the partygoers begin to hear noises. Then the lights go out and they hear a crash! Uh-oh. Did someone say the word ghost?

Published in 2001 (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), this book is 24 pages of pure delight.

I’ve adored the Curious George books forever, and I’m thrilled to be able to offer some copies of Curious George Goes to a Costume Party for giveaway!
